Here at LA MOTTE CAMPING we are not on a great environmental crusade, but it just happens that our site, and the way in which we choose to share this beautiful corner of France with our customers is naturally 'Eco-Gentle'

For example we encourage our guests to recycle plastics, glass and paper separately; we even have a composter to further reduce our landfill waste. We are sure that visitors will embrace the beautiful countryside and open spaces that are right on their doorstep. We also intend to produce information/books on the local wildlife that they can see e.g. the fantastic diversity of birds here that can exist as a result of the low-scale farming. There are also many ‘attractions’ in the area that guests can visit e.g. local Nature Reserves, National Park, lakes – these open spaces all have a benefit to our environment. We will provide links to all the environmental associations in the area.

We have made up a sheet of useful French words that guests can have a look at. This in turn will encourage people to use local shops/services, knowing that they will be understood. We provide information about the wealth of local activities and services that are on offer here – much of life out here revolves around our enjoyable seasonal festivals and the activities that are organised by the local salles des fetes committee. We encourage participation in these to create a better understanding of rural culture. We encourage guests to our holiday accommodation to use our village shops and to therefore aid the local economy. These sell fine Charente Maritime produce and locally-reared meat.

We encourage our guests to visit the chateau in the local village. We only sell Local wines. We support the local community by attracting large amounts of visitors to the area and promoting the Charente Maritime. We hope that our passion for the local area is felt by all our guests and that the exposure to the magnificent nature and energy here touches adults and children alike and allows them to rediscover the power and freedom of being outdoors.

All the toilet paper we supply is recycled and the washing up liquid is Eco friendly, if you have any other suggestions please let us know.
We will have solar panels to provide power to the toilet block .The hot water for the showers is powered by LPG, which is a by product of the petro-chem industry, once burnt off as waste, ensures that you can always have a piping hot shower.

If you wish we can arrange collection from our local station, and you can leave your car (if you have one!) at home.

Our Tipis are all constructed a natural material and have the added benefit of being waterproofed. There are no live fires to be lit inside the Tipi’s due to our location being within the “Maison de Foret”. Although there is mains electricity at the site all the tents only have solar lamps and candles for lighting at night.
Our site is very low impact, we will have just Three Tipis on a Ten acre site, which again helps keep the site looking and feeling unspoilt.
